$49.00
Unit price perA Kansa scalp and body massage tool with rounded nodes and a carved hardwood handle. The nodes are designed for two distinct Ayurvedic practices: Shiro Abhyanga (classical scalp massage) and Marma point work on the body. On the scalp, the seven nodes cover a broad area with each stroke. On the body, a single node locates and holds an individual Marma point with sustained pressure. Hand-cast in traditional Kansa bronze, traditionally valued in Ayurveda for its cooling quality on both scalp and body tissue.
Wipe the nodes with a soft damp cloth after every use. Dry fully before storing. Do not soak in water, this will damage the wood handle. Store in a dry place away from humidity.
Benefits of Kansa Scalp and Body Massager
- Rounded Kansa nodes apply precise, sustained pressure, shaped for both broad scalp coverage and targeted marma point contact on the body
- The cooling quality of Kansa bronze is traditionally used to calm Pitta and settle Vata, you feel the difference in the tissue as you work
- Dual practice: one tool carries you from Śiro Abhyanga on the scalp to full body marma work
- Used with oil and slow intention, the nodes release the kind of deep tension that rest alone cannot reach
- Solid Kansa throughout, no coating, no composite. A tool made to last, that develops natural patina and character with every use
How to Use
Scalp
Apply 4–6 drops of hair oil to your scalp. Place the nodes in contact with the scalp. Work in slow circles from the hairline to the crown, covering the full scalp including temples and base of the skull. Five to ten minutes. Wipe the tool clean after use.
Body
Apply body or Abhyanga oil to the area first. Hold the nodes flat against your skin. Move in slow circles over areas of tension. For marma points, hold the nodes still and apply gentle sustained pressure for 30–60 seconds per point. Always use with oil. Wipe and dry the tool after each use.
When to practice
Śiro Abhyanga is a morning practice. In classical Ayurveda it belongs to the Dinacharya routine, apply your hair oil first, work the nodes across the scalp, and allow the oil to absorb for 20–30 minutes before bathing.
Marma massage on the body is better suited to the evening, when the day is behind you and the practice can be given the time and stillness it requires. Apply your body oil, take the Kansa tool and work from the upper body downward.
