Pure Copper Vessel for Jala Neti — Ayurvedic Nasal Cleansing

$21.00

Neti is the Ayurvedic practice of rinsing the nasal passages with warm saline water, one of the Shat Kriyas (six purification techniques) described in the classical Hatha Yoga and Ayurvedic texts. The Neti Pot is the vessel designed specifically for this practice, and copper is the traditional material of choice.

This is a pure copper Neti Pot, shaped for a comfortable, controlled flow of saline water through one nostril and out the other. The spout fits snugly against the nostril opening to form a seal without pressure. The handle gives you steady control of the angle and flow rate. The capacity is sized for a full nasal rinse one fill per side.

Copper has been used for water vessels in Ayurveda for centuries. The classical texts describe copper as naturally purifying, and the material carries inherent antimicrobial properties that have been well documented. A copper Neti Pot does not just hold the water it contributes to the quality of the rinse itself. This is why copper remains the preferred material for Jala Neti among practitioners, even though plastic and ceramic alternatives exist.

If you already practise Nasya (nasal oil application) with Anu Thailam or Shadbindu Thailam, Jala Neti is the complementary practice. The classical sequence is to rinse first with the Neti Pot, then follow with Nasya oil, clearing the passages before nourishing them. Together, they form the complete Ayurvedic nasal care routine.

Fill the Neti Pot with lukewarm water. Add a quarter teaspoon of fine, non-iodised salt and stir until fully dissolved. The water should taste mildly salty. Too little salt will sting; too much will irritate.

Lean forward over a sink with your head tilted to one side. Place the spout gently into the upper nostril, forming a light seal. Breathe through your mouth and allow the water to flow in through the upper nostril and out through the lower. Use half the pot on each side.

After rinsing both sides, blow your nose gently one nostril at a time to clear any remaining water. Do not blow forcefully.

Practise Jala Neti in the morning on an empty stomach, before applying Nasya oil. If you are new to the practice, start once daily. Most people find three to four times per week is sufficient for ongoing maintenance, while daily use is appropriate during high-pollen seasons or periods of nasal congestion.

Rinse the Neti Pot thoroughly with clean water after every use. Allow it to air dry completely before storing, do not leave water sitting inside the vessel. Copper will develop a natural patina over time, which is normal and does not affect function or safety. To restore the original finish, rub gently with lemon juice and salt, rinse and dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or put in the dishwasher.

Always use clean, lukewarm water, never hot, cold, or unfiltered tap water. Use only non-iodised salt (fine sea salt or pharmaceutical-grade nasal rinse salt). Do not practise Jala Neti during active nasal infection with coloured discharge, during nosebleeds, or immediately before going outside in cold weather. If you experience persistent discomfort during practice, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider.

Benefits of Jala Neti with a Copper Neti Pot

Cleanses the nasal passages — warm saline water flushes out dust, pollen, dried mucus and environmental irritants from the nasal cavity, supporting clear and comfortable breathing.

Supports sinus comfort — regular Jal Neti is traditionally used to maintain healthy sinuses by keeping the passages clear and the nasal membranes hydrated.

Prepares the nose for Nasya — rinsing before applying Nasya oil ensures the oil reaches clean tissue and absorbs properly. This is the traditional sequence described in Ayurvedic texts.

Naturally antimicrobial — pure copper has well-documented antimicrobial properties. The vessel stays cleaner between uses than plastic or ceramic alternatives and contributes to the hygiene of your practice.

Supports daily Dinacharya — Jala Neti is part of the classical Ayurvedic morning routine alongside tongue scraping, oil pulling, Nasya and Abhyanga. Adding it takes two minutes and the effect on breathing comfort is noticeable from the first use.
