Pure Copper Water Bottle for Ushapana & Daily Use

$39.00

A pure copper water bottle for Ushapana and everyday hydration. Fill it with water, leave it for 6 to 8 hours, and drink, this is one of the oldest and simplest practices in Ayurveda.

Storing water in copper overnight is known as Tamra Jal. The classical Ayurvedic texts describe Tamra (copper) as naturally purifying and balancing for all three doshas. This is not a new wellness trend, copper vessels have been used across Indian households and Ayurvedic clinics for centuries, and the practice of copper-stored water has been part of Dinacharya (the Ayurvedic daily routine) for as long as it has been recorded.

This bottle holds 950ML, which is enough for your full Ushapana practice in the morning and a refill during the day. The sealed lid makes it leakproof and practical for travel, work, or keeping at your bedside. Unlike the copper glass, which stays at home, this bottle goes with you.

It is crafted from solid, food-grade pure copper, unlined and uncoated, so the water has full contact with the copper surface. The shape is designed for comfortable handling, and the wide mouth makes it easy to fill, pour, and clean.

Capacity

Fill the bottle with room-temperature water and let it stand for at least 6 to 8 hours, or overnight. Drink the water first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach.

If you follow the full Dantacharya morning routine, Ushapana is the final step, after tongue scraping and oil pulling. The complete sequence:

  1. Scrape your tongue with a copper tongue scraper (Jihwa Prakshalana)
  2. Swish Arimedadi Thailam in your mouth for 10–15 minutes (Gandusha)
  3. Drink your copper-stored water (Ushapana)

You can also refill the bottle during the day for regular hydration. There is no need to wait 8 hours each time the overnight storage is the traditional Ushapana practice, but drinking from copper throughout the day is common across India and is perfectly fine.

Do not store acidic liquids (citrus juice, vinegar, milk, carbonated drinks) in the bottle. Use it for plain water only.

Wash the bottle with warm water and a mild soap after each use. Use a bottle brush to clean the inside thoroughly. Do not put it in the dishwasher.

The interior will develop a natural patina over time, this is normal with pure copper and does not affect safety or function. To restore the shine, use a paste of lemon juice and salt, rub gently inside and out, rinse well, and dry completely. This is optional.

Always dry the bottle after washing. Do not leave water sitting in the bottle for extended periods without drinking, fill it fresh each day or evening.

The lid seal should be checked periodically. If the seal wears over time, contact us for a replacement.

Why Copper?

Copper is the traditional material for water storage in Ayurveda. It is classified as one of the Dhatu (metals) with specific qualities: cooling in nature, supportive of digestion, and considered tridoshic, suitable for Vata, Pitta, and Kapha constitutions alike.

Beyond the Ayurvedic tradition, copper is well documented for its natural antimicrobial properties. Water stored in copper undergoes a natural oligodynamic process, the copper surface actively discourages the growth of bacteria and microorganisms. This is not a claim specific to Art of Vedas; it is a material property of copper itself, recognised in both traditional and modern contexts.
