Pure Copper Eye Cups for Netra Prakshalana

$27.00

A set of two handcrafted pure copper eye cups, shaped to fit comfortably over the eye socket for Netra Prakshalana, the Ayurvedic practice of eye cleansing.

The rim of each cup creates a gentle seal around the orbital bone, allowing you to hold a rinse solution in place while you blink softly beneath it. The liquid washes over the surface of the eye, lifting dust, residue, and the accumulated strain of the day. One cup for each eye — you never cross-contaminate.

In Ayurveda, the eyes are governed by Alochaka Pitta, the subtle fire responsible for visual perception. Of all the senses, sight is considered the most Pitta dependent, and therefore the most vulnerable to heat, overuse, and fatigue. Netra Prakshalana is the classical practice designed to cleanse, cool, and restore the eyes as part of your daily or weekly Dinacharya routine.

For anyone who spends long hours on screens, works under artificial light, or lives in dry or dusty environments, this is one of the simplest and most immediate rituals in Ayurveda.

  • Contents: Set of 2 copper eye wash cups
  • Material: 100% pure copper, handcrafted
  • Design: Contoured rim shaped to seal around the orbital bone
  • Use: Netra Prakshalana (Ayurvedic eye cleansing)

Rinse both cups thoroughly under running water after every use. Allow to air dry completely before storing. Copper will naturally develop a patina over time, this does not affect hygiene or function. To restore the original shine, rub occasionally with a paste of lemon juice and salt, rinse, and dry.

Do not use abrasive scrubbers. Do not put in the dishwasher. Store in a clean, dry place between uses.

What Is Netra Prakshalana?

Netra Prakshalana is the Ayurvedic eye wash, a gentle rinsing of the eyes using herbal or floral water held in a cup against the eye socket. The practice is described in the classical texts as part of Dinacharya and is specifically recommended for maintaining the clarity and comfort of the eyes.

The most traditional rinse is Triphala Kashayam, a cooled decoction of the three fruits Haritaki, Bibhitaki, and Amalaki.

The practice takes less than five minutes. Its effects refreshed, calmer, clearer-feeling eyes are noticeable from the first use.

How to Use Copper Eye Wash Cups

The most traditional option is Triphala water: soak ½ teaspoon of Triphala powder in a cup of boiled, filtered water. Let it cool completely to room temperature (or prepare it the night before). Strain thoroughly through fine cloth, no particles should remain. Alternatively, use pure rose water at room temperature.

Important: The liquid must be fully cooled, clean, and free of any sediment before use. Never use hot or warm liquid near the eyes.

Perform the eye wash

  1. Fill one copper cup with your prepared rinse solution
  2. Lean forward over a sink or basin
  3. Press the rim of the cup gently against the bone around one eye, creating a seal — the cup should not touch the eyeball
  4. Tilt your head back slowly, keeping the cup sealed against the eye socket
  5. Blink gently several times, allowing the liquid to wash across the surface of the eye
  6. Tilt your head forward again, remove the cup, and discard the used liquid
  7. Repeat with the second cup on the other eye, always use a fresh cup and fresh solution for each eye
