AYURVEDIC EYE & FACE OIL

Elaneer Kuzhambu

Elaneer Kuzhambu, a classical cooling oil of Ayurveda for the delicate skin around the eyes, in a coconut oil base.

Elaneer Kuzhambu is a classical Ayurvedic preparation whose name draws from Elaneer, the tender coconut at its heart. Art of Vedas prepares it as a light, cooling oil for the delicate skin of the eye area and face: tender coconut and a group of classical herbs in a coconut oil base, following the traditional method of the Sahasra Yogam. This page sets out what the oil is, the classical tradition it belongs to, and the heavy-metal and microbiological test results recorded for every batch.

What Elaneer Kuzhambu is

Elaneer Kuzhambu is a classical Ayurvedic herbal preparation, prepared by Art of Vedas as a light, cooling oil for the delicate skin around the eyes and on the face. It is anhydrous, meaning it contains no added water, so no preservative is needed: a coconut oil base carrying tender coconut and the extracts of classical herbs. It is made in India under Good Manufacturing Practice, following ISO 22716 principles, and is not tested on animals. It carries a period after opening of 12 months and is offered in an 8 ml size.

The formula is entirely plant-based, so the oil is vegan. It carries the three classical myrobalans (Haritaki, Bibhitaki, Amla) with liquorice and a small amount of camphor, in a coconut oil base. Any fragrance-allergen constituents present above the labelling threshold are shown in the ordered ingredient list below.

Elaneer Kuzhambu in classical Ayurveda

Elaneer Kuzhambu takes its name from Elaneer, the tender coconut, joined with the three myrobalans and other classical herbs. It belongs to the classical preparations recorded in the Ayurvedic literature, in the tradition of the Sahasra Yogam.

It is prepared by a classical method in which the tender coconut and herbs are processed into a coconut oil base. In the tradition it is applied gently to the delicate skin around the eyes as a cooling, refreshing preparation.

Art of Vedas presents its preparation of Elaneer Kuzhambu within that classical frame, describing the practice rather than any outcome, and tests it with every batch.

Quality and testing

Tested with every batch

Every production batch of Elaneer Kuzhambu is tested before it is released for sale: heavy metals by a laboratory method called ICP-MS, and microbiological safety against the international standard ISO 17516:2014. The figures below are representative results; every batch is retested before release.

Heavy metals

Five heavy metals were tested by ICP-MS, each within the permitted limit for products left on the skin. The right-hand column shows the maximum level allowed under German BfR guidance.

MetalResultPermitted maximum
Lead (Pb)Within the permitted limitmax 2 mg/kg
Cadmium (Cd)Within the permitted limitmax 0.1 mg/kg
Mercury (Hg)Within the permitted limitmax 0.1 mg/kg
Arsenic (As)Within the permitted limitmax 0.5 mg/kg
Nickel (Ni)Within the permitted limitmax 5 mg/kg

ICP-MS is inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The limits shown are the German BfR guidance values for products left on the skin, in milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg).

Microbiological safety

Microbiological safety is tested against ISO 17516:2014. The overall counts of microbes stay within the limits set for products left on the skin, and the specific organisms that must not be present were each absent.

TestResult
Total Aerobic Microbial CountWithin the EU limit
Total Yeast and Mould CountWithin the EU limit
Escherichia coli (E. coli)Absent (not found)
Pseudomonas aeruginosaAbsent (not found)
Staphylococcus aureus (Staph)Absent (not found)
Candida albicansAbsent (not found)

ISO 17516:2014 sets the microbiological limits; the thresholds for products left on the skin apply to this oil.
